Abstract: Studying the connections between models of determinacy and large cardinals has been a focus for set theorists for the last 30 years. We will give a brief account as well as outline some basic results along this line. One of the reasons for studying the connections between these two hierarchies of theories is because it gives insight into the structure of sets of reals. We will also discuss regularity properties of sets of reals in the presence of large cardinals.
Profile: Dr Nam Trang obtained his PhD in logic from UC Berkeley in 2013, now works as a post doctoral fellow in Carnegie Mellon University. His research interest is descriptive inner model theory, the very core of the foundations of modern pure set theory.
